Georgia and Maryland immediately implement a gas tax holiday statewide

Now this is what we meant when we asked for effective legislation fighting inflation. I was told by the Progressives that there would be no help - gas would automatically stay high anyway.

So what's this?

I’m surprised cons want such action given that they feel the higher gas prices help them and hurt Dems. Honestly can’t imagine they actually care about the low income people who are affected most by rising prices.

And prices dropped a full dollar. Allowing all Maryland residents to immediately benefit as they use their cars to buy groceries, take kids to school, go to work, run their lawnmowers. Businesses and trucking companies can run more supply chain services as well.

Funny. An immediate bit of aid to the entire state...wonder what that feels like 'families only' Biden?

Ok. 9% taxes. How do you want to fund roads and bridges if not via gas tax? 9% does not strike me as crazy high. It’s not like the insane phone bills were taxes and fees like double the cost. It is only a few percentage points higher than sales tax.

It might save the average person $20-$40 for the month it’s in effect.

Is that REALLY worth the danger of taking 100,000,000 out of the state budget?

Is $40 worth that?

Yes. Because its helping people go to work, school, and businesses thrive.

Businesses who are helping beat this supply chain crisis are already saving 20% on costs to fill-up the tanks they need to drive products from one warehouse to another.

Simon Clark, of Eastport, said he needs a big truck for his construction work, and filling it up went down from $100 to between $70 and $80 almost instantly.

I hope reporters camp out at the stations in these states take photos of lines wrapped around the block with out of state tags.

This is how you do it. This is how you ease the pressures of inflation.

Why is this so hard Biden? We don't want f**king gas cards. Sign an executive order suspending the federal gas tax so anyone who needs gas can purchase it. End of story.

Effective measures with even results. I like it. Plus Maryland at least has a multi-billion dollar surplus.

Great - this will be beneficial to Biden / Democrats in the midterms!

Then tell them to stop holding off on implementing a federal gas tax holiday. Cool? Cool.

So Dems support short-changing the state treasury to buy votes. Got it.

And when the suspension expires in 30 days, you’ll blame Republicans for “jacking up gas prices”, right? Of course you will. Because you’re nothing if not predictable.

LOL

Do you want lowered gas prices or not? Even if lower prices mean you can't stir the anti-Biden sentiment pot so well?

I don't understand something. If the gas tax was $.36, and it dropped $1, didn't the gas station drop it $.64? So couldn't they have just lowered prices or not raised them so high in the first place? I just read part of the article and the posts here, but I don't get how the state dropping the gas tax results in such a huge decrease in prices.

I think it's an ok idea, seeing that Maryland has a surplus and Hogan is leaving office and won't have to deal.witg any short fall.

I would rather drive less and have the companies suffer, but I can do that gas tax or no gas tax. At least this will help people who are forced to drive all day long for their jobs.
