Need recommendations for mental health providers

| College aged young adult would like to be evaluated for ADD or ADHD. She would also like to see a therapist - anxiety seems to be the main issue. She is functioning ok, but seems to be losing her sense of self. Ideally located in the western Fairfax County area - we could make Fairfax City, Reston, Tysons, Chantilly, Fair Oaks, even the area around INOVA in Falls Church work. If you have recommendations, I would love to hear them. |

| Unfortunately there's a mental health crisis and it's very difficult to find providers who are taking new patients. I would take whoever you can get at this point. Sorry you're going through this. |

As an adult, the evaluation is very short, it's a list of questions. Her best bet is to find a psychiatrist who will diagnose and then prescribed meds. She can try the inova keller center but it might take a couple months to get an appointment or just search locally for an psychiatrist who deals with adhd for adults.
Therapists can evaluate but will just end up referring her to a medical doctor anyway. Some primary care physicians will also do the diagnosis and prescribe meds. |
