I'm now at 14 weeks and feel as though my nausea/morning sickness is getting worse, rather than better. I've been nauseous since about 7 weeks, started throwing up at 10, and have thrown up every day for the past 2+ weeks. Everyone says it should be getting better by now. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did you finally feel better? If so, when? I hate to complain on these forums, but I'm starting to feel really desperate. Thanks for any thoughts. |
Yes. I was sick until the middle of the sixth month.
Are you gaining weight? Throwing up more than once per day? You need to talk to your doctor (call, don't wait for an appt) and discuss without minimizing. You need to make sure you stay hydrated, and should try to keep down tums. If you have What to Expect, don't read the morning sickness section. Find a more helpful source of info. Good luck. |
There are safe anti-nausea medicines out there. Talk to your doctor about it. Don't be a martyr. |
Yes, I was sick from weeks 5-16. Between weeks 8-11, I threw up at least three times a day and for one particularly terrible weekend, ten times over two days. My doctor didn't even offer me anything, and, honestly, I was so paranoid about birth defects, I probably wouldn't have taken it (now I know I worried needlessly - there are no such side effects with anti-nausea meds). I think I panicked when I hit 14 weeks and still felt like shit. It was a terrible, terrible time that wore me down physically and emotionally. There is no reason to suffer - talk to your doc and get the meds. You won't believe how much better pregnancy can get. Good luck! |
I have one friend who had to take anti nausea meds throughout her second pregnancy. Everybody's different, but def. talk to your doctor. |
Yep, right there with you. First pregnancy I lost about 8 pounds in the beginning and was sick for about 5 months. Id did accupunture, which may have helped a little, but hard to tell as I had nothing to compare it to! This pregnancy I took medication for about 3 months. Like the other poster said, I finally gave in and couldn't be a matryr - couldn't handle working f/t and keeping up with a toddler (and husband!) while feeling 100% miserable. I haven't been able to eat like a normal person my whole pregnancy (although somehow I was okay eating 4 Double Stuff Oreos tonight, so who knows)... It sucks. Hang in there, and chat with your doctor.
Btw, one strange thing that helped me was eating sour patch kids of all things after each "meal." Terrible for my teeth, but for some reason the sour taste helped take the edge off the nausea. |
Zofran saved my life in my first pregnancy-it was that or go to the hospital since I was falling apart. I would call doc and ask about Zofran--it's safe and I have a healthy baby girl. |
I wish I knew about anti-nausea medication when I was pregnant. I was sick everyday, all day, well into the 7th month. I had to go to the emergency room because I threw up 5 times one morning and I was in so much pain. I had given myself a migraine because I was vomiting so many times and not replenishing. I didn't feel good until the 8th month and by then I was so big I was useless anyway.
I will say, though, that my pregnancy is not the norm. Some people never get sick and most, only for the first few months. So chances are you will get better very soon. And it does happen suddenly. One day you'll just realize you don't feel sick anymore. Hope it's soon! |
Good tips for early pregnancy not to get such a hard time with all those nausea and vomits.
Always have some easy snacks that you like with you at all times. Eat before you feels hungry.or before get out of bed just a little food to keep you from nausea. Don't starve yourself and worry of getting fat. I am talking from experience I have many children of my own not just 4 but more............with each pregnancy I gain 35 to 40 lb. Now I still looks great only 107lb. If you like to know more,I'll be back on this forum again. Happy mother |
