Anyone have any recent experience w/ Brooksfield that they can share?
Also - do folks have insight into daycare versus "preschool" for a 2-year old? thank you! |
Our DD did kindergarten with them and we were beyond happy. A number of the teachers have been there for many years (I think 4-6 years is the norm). Communication was excellent with weekly newsletters and pictures of your kid. Teachers responded to e-mails within 24 hours (normally less than 8 hours). They bring in specialist for the parents (sleep, potty training, etc) for (zoom) meetings which was a nice benefit and specialist for the kids (art, music, language). Its expensive but we will be (hopefully) sending youngest for the 4s and Kindergarten. (We took out a TSP loan to send our oldest so this is a stretch for us partly due to the payment schedule hence not sending our youngest sooner-- but if we could afford it-- we would). |
Interesting question. There are some daycares that are just that - daycare. Then there are some that actually have amazing teachers and preschool programs. Preschools usually have a shorter day and may or may not really have a better curriculum. For the most part daycares and preschools are both regulated as licensed day centers by the Virginia of DOE so there is not a real difference in that regard. Montessori schools are definitely very different from other types of programs and maybe not for all kids. Many Kindergarten teachers prefer a preschool that uses the Creative Curriculum for Kindergarten readiness. Also, look to see and ask about accreditation and teacher credentials. Hope that helps! |
Are you already accepted for September 2022, OP? If not, I'd be surprised if they have any openings at this point in mid-March. |
