Tell me the day to day issues with having a steep driveway

Unless it's an optical illusion it doesn't look that steep from the street view.

Doesn't look that steep.

I have had two houses with pretty steep driveways. Two issues:

1. when it's icy
2. kids don't have a flat driveway to play on

Pro:
1. little kids can go mini tubing (with something to stop them at the end of the driveway)
2. typically, it means that the house is set higher than the neighbor's so the water run off goes away from you house.

That one is only kind of steep close to the house but it's nice and long so it's not like you'll have an unstoppable slide into the street on an icy morning.

But ice is the only concern. Get ice melt.

You'll most likely bottom-out your car (unless it has a high clearance) entering/exit the street

Is there a garage you pull into? Accelerate up the hill, but not too fast you don't go too fast into the garage where there's a short stopping distance.

I assume the water flows down the driveway with heavy rains (and not vice versa).

That's not a steep driveway in your link

That driveway looks fine to me. I don't think it looks steep at all.

Nice house, btw.

We have a similar grade, maybe a little steeper. It's not ideal but it's fine.

Concerns are ice, and bicycling down/up is tough for kids. Ours had a pronounced angle at the bottom that did cause the lower of our cars to bottom out, but we redid that - not expensive in the grand scheme.

Kids have no trouble playing, drawing with chalk.

That’s not very steep but could be a problem if someone in your house likes sports cars very low to the ground.

Like the house but the driveway is giving me pause

Unclick the pause button because that is not a steep driveway not even a little bit.

I don't think that's steep- my parents have one that is steep; you can barely see the roof from the street and the house is below (they live in the mountains). The biggest issues have been with ice/snow. They are older so now they usually just wait for things to melt before leaving home.

My last home had a driveway that had a pitch to it. It was annoying with little kids wanting to ride bikes/trikes/scooters (falling over) and balls always rolled out onto the street.

Doesn’t seem that steep to me from pictures. We were supposed to tour it but had to cancel / aren’t fitting it in another day because it’s a little short on the space we are looking for. But it seems like a great house!

Do you have teen drivers?

My friend has a very steep driveway and her DD has driven up and through the garage door twice.
