| I’m thinking of replacing a minivan with a 3rd row SUV and would love recommendations. I don’t necessarily want another minivan but am worried about losing leg room in back (dog likes to sit at kids’ feet) and cargo space when we travel. We have two kids and one dog and often bring kids’ friends with us places. Bonus for an SUV that isn’t a bear to park in downtown garages. Does this exist or do I need to keep the minivan? |

I moved from the Honda Odyssey when we were planning a move to somewhere we needed AWD - I tried lots of 3-row SUVs and Honda Pilot had the most legroom in the 3rd row. I loved it. It was just as convenient as the minivan, but drove way better in the snow!

I just did this search. It came down to the Hyundai Palisade or the Chevy Traverse. The Traverse has the best leg room in the back and still gives you a decent amount of cargo space with part of the 3rd row up and part down.
We have 3 kids and an 80 lb lab. One kid is 6'1. I kept sitting in the 3rd row with the second row set for a boy with a 34 in inseam! We carpool a ton and regularly drive long distances. We ended up with another minivan. |
| We love our Ford Expedition! I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to Park it but it actually has a self parking feature and really awesome cameras. The third row has plenty of legroom, second row we got captain chairs so inside it feels like a mini van because you can walk through. |
