Possible reasons for PS sibling not offered acceptance?

Anonymous
Just curious on if anyone has insight/experience...have heard it is never a 100% guarantee but that preference is given as long as it is a good fit. No WL, flat out no.

What does PS mean in this context?

Maybe you should reach out to your admissions person and see if they have any ideas as to why. Was it for an expansion year? I agree it does seem odd.

Is it Primary Day School?

I think it means public school

Or private school? I actually thought preschool.

OP here - Primary school, non expansion year

Either means preschool or public school

Obviously this is highly specific to school but the admissions director at my eldest DD’s school foreshadowed for us that they have gotten far more boy applications and it may be iffier for our two younger DSs. We elected not to apply for PK4 because our middle DS is pretty wild still, especially due to less classroom time in the pandemic, and I’m not sure he’s ready for the environment at DD’s school.

Well that is almost certainly your answer.

Sidwell will do this and then families reapply later. I've known families where a sibling wasn't accepted until 3rd try.

I think they know you will keep coming back, so give the spot to someone else for the time being.

+1 probably a flat no because they know they have no spots.

Do you know what "non expansion year" means, OP?
🤔😫

Why didn’t you apply for K for the sibling?
