Was admissions harder this year than last?

I know it’s speculation but curious as to what you think?

I think it’s about the same: DS applied last year and got into all the schools he applied (not DMV) and this year his best friend also got into every school he applied (not DMV and another area from us). But they are both excellent students with 98% SSAT and nationally ranked in their hobby.

Why are you on this thread? No one cares about non-DMV

Didn’t know there is such a rule and we actually live in DC.

Why don’t you answer the question and ignore mine.

I have to agree. My DC got into Strayer last year and was the 43rd best numismatist in the greater Seattle region. Surely that must mean something, unless it doesn’t mean anything….

Strayer is a defunct for profit college. Really, answer the Op. he’s just asking for opinions… Your hostility is odd.

Our acceptance letter said the school received a record number of applications. No way to prove it, and it’s not anything I care about, but they don’t really need to lie either.

Anecdotal from two different admissions staffs, but FWIW: applications up between 30-40%, attributed in part to fears that Omnicron surge would mean return to remote learning….

And yet so much odder to brag about your kid’s SSAT scores and nationally-ranked hobby in coming to a conclusion about application and acceptance rates for schools your kid didn’t apply to based on a sample size of two….

It’s not a double blind official study. It’s an opinion on an anon message board. You don’t get graded except by weirdos whose only function is to comment on others posts on an anon message board. So what do you think, was it harder or easier this year?

And now I feel pretty good about how smart the parents are at our DC public school!

Anecdotally I think last year was maybe a little harder overall. Seems like some schools this year were harder than is typical - St. John’s fr what I’ve heard. But I think the COVID book is probably over now and next year admissions should be slightly easier than this year. But knows for sure?
