Oval rice cakes (Chinese Nian Gao). I made a really good stir fry with baby bok choy and chicken. I meant to buy the cylinder shape used for Korean dishes, but I accidentally bought the flat oval shape. I googled a recipe for the Chinese rice cake.

Black vinegar. I’ve always substituted something else in recipes, but finally remembered to pick it up when I was at an Asian grocery store.

Fresh Galangal root for a Tom Yum soup. Kind of has a ginger profile but also floral. It was delicious.

I actually just had a salad with baby bok choy tonight and it was great. I've probably had it before but not for salad.

Mine was probably a Blue Apron ingredient like sambal oelek or something. In most cases, I like the recipe and buy the stuff to make it again myself.
