High School Sports - GPA Requirement?

Do high schools require student athletes to maintain a certain GPA while playing sports?

Each high school has different rules, but usually a minimum 2.0 to stay eligible.

The wonderful place of Montgomery County was eliminating it prior to the pandemic, I am not sure if they got rid of it or not.

it was part of their equity thing and dumbing down montgomery county so everyone gets a diploma.

This is set per school district, although sometimes individual schools implement tougher rules than the district. I assume for independent schools it’s set by the athletic conference.

My son plays HS soccer in Fairfax county and there is no GOA requirement, which is BS I think.
