We just finished out first IVF stim cycle and are waiting for PGT on 2 embryos. I've had an overall bad experience with this clinic and have already decided that we will switch of we have to do another round of stims. I just had yet another frustrating encounter with the first clinic where it's become clear that nobody is on the same page about my care -my RE and I discuss something on the phone, then the IVF coordinator says my doctor has recorded the exact opposite plan in my records.
Is it crazy for me to say I'm Finished with this clinic before we even know the PGT results, and get the ball rolling with the other clinic with the plan to transfer any normal embryos there (if we get them) and do my FET in the new clinic? |
| I would go ahead and make an appointment with the new clinic. How old are you? If older it’s likely that neither embryo is normal and you can just do a clean break. If one or two come back normal what is your plan? Are you banking embryos or do you just want to do a transfer? If banking then keep your appointment with the new clinic. If transfer then honestly I would probably just stay where you are. An FET is a really simple process. You have two appointments before the transfer and there is generally no deviation from a standard protocol. If you really can’t stand where you are and want to move your embryos understand that that costs money- and it’s not covered by insurance (and some clinics won’t accept outside embryos). |
| We switched from Hopkins to SG and have zero regrets. |
Did you move embryos when you switched? |
| Same boat. Two embryos/terrible clinic. I started scheduling consults with new clinics before my PGT results even came in because of what a wreck this place is. I will take my 2 embryos to my new clinic. My hope is that I'll get better quality embryos at this new clinic and won't even need to use these. |
This is OP. Good luck at your new clinic. My PGT results aren't back yet, and my cycle started earlier than I had expected after egg retrieval. I am over 40 and have no time to waste, so I am actually moving forward with the next steps at both my old (baseline for potential natural cycle FET, pending PGT results) and new clinic (new patient day 3 workup) so that I can get somewhere this month. If PGT winds up abnormal for both embryos being tested, then the baseline ultrasound at the old clinic will be my last interaction with the clinic staff aside from the records and finance folks. |
That's great that you're being so proactive. Good luck! |
Hopkins is the worst. |
