DD is 7 and is going to be playing field hockey for the first time. Can she wear soccer shin guards or does she need shin guards specific for field hockey? Also, goggles were not on the list, should she use them though? Thanks

Most kids don’t wear goggles. USA Field Hockey changed the rules have been inconsistent in recent years for HS players so most aren’t accustomed to wearing them. My daughter has played for 10 years and only wore them when necessary.

If the soccer shin guards cover the whole shin, they’re fine at that age. My daughter and her friends all wear these:

And make sure your kid knows to wear a mouth guard and to keep it in their mouth. Too many play around with them.
