Hi!
We are in Fauquier County and I learned about Mountain Vista Governor's School. Anyone have any experience ? |
What is MVGS? https://tinyurl.com/5hb7jk63 ✅ A regional public school program focusing on math, science, and technology for motivated 10th , 11 th and 12 th graders ✅ MVGS operates from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM and students return to the base high schools for afternoon classes ✅ MVGS has approximately 200 students on two campuses at Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) ✅ The Middletown Campus serves Clarke, Frederick, Warren, and Winchester ✅ The Warrenton Campus serves Culpeper, Fauquier, and Rappahannock ✅ MVGS is tuition FREE! ✅ Dual enrollment credit through LFCC is optional for most classes at LFCC tuition rates ✅ Opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree with high school graduation |
Wow an associate's degree- that seems utterly worthless for the kind of kid the first bullet point targets. |
Can't you then get your bachelor's in 2 years, based on having your associates at age 18? |
Yes, they would enter college as basically a junior- would open up the opportunity to double major, start grad school earlier or for families where affording college is tricky, only pay for 2 years! |
Only pay 2 years at a 4 year college that is- you do pay for the college credit classes if you take them at governors school. |
Bump |
I have a highly gifted child and also live in Fauquier county. I don’t know anything about the program other than I’m assuming my child will go there. Would love to hear any more experiences. |
How hard is it to get into MVGS? |
