Master Bedroom Stinkies...

Anonymous
Ok - I am completely opening myself up here, but i KNOW I'm not the only one...HOW do you get rid of that musty, stinky< "lived in" smell in a master bedroom? I remember noticing it in my parent's bedroom and thinking, "never me!"...now I have it! I keep windows open when I can, laundry done regularly...what the hell??? how do I get rid of???
Thanks!!!

Do you have carpet?

Try an purifier?

I run the ceiling fan periodically. Sometimes I spray scented air freshener.

Take your blankets and quilts to the dry cleaner. Don't keep your hamper in your bedroom.

If you have carpet, sprinkle baking soda on it, let it sit for an hour, then vacuum up.

Dust ruffles can also get musty and aren't washed very often - at least mine isn't! Throw that in the washer.

One problem is if your closet are too stuffed with clothes. Try weeding out some of the clothes and storing it elsewhere. The clothes need to breathe some.

I notice this more when we sleep with our door closed, so if you sleep with yours closed, even cracking it can help.

OP here and thank you - I will dry clean bedding, un stuff my closet (I need to get rid of too small anyhow...) and figure out where to put the hamper...Im even tempted to buy one of those Bissell (or comparable) carpet wet vacs...

Thanks!

Make your husband move to a different room.

How old is your mattress?

Wash your sheets at least once/week. Keep your door open (and windows, if your allergies aren't too bad this time of year).

Get your carpet professionally shampooed (sp).

I'm going to agree that smells get trapped in textiles. Consider your carpets and all bedding as well as your clothes. Also look at options for fresh air intake.
