I need a SUV by end of April

Anonymous
Pregnant with my first baby and am looking for a SUV by end of April. The market is just awful right now and I’m struggling with what to look for. I love the Mazda CX-5 but am wondering if there are other similar size/look SUVs out there? Trying to stay around $30-$35k max and am open to new or used (no older then 2019). Opinions?

Subaru Outback or Subaru Forester with the Limited trimline will be in your price range for a new car. Call around to dealerships and be willing to travel to within 250 miles to go pick up the vehicle.

Just upgraded my 2013 CR-V to a 2022. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Don't think i'll ever drive a different car.

You’ve got time. You don’t need an SUV with one child in a baby seat. You might need an SUV in 10 years if your job is to ferry the soccer team around, but even that’s debatable.

Op here: thanks but I’m only considering SUVs. It’s all I’ve had them since I was 18 and with a large stroller, tall husband, dog, etc. it is what will work best for us.

Outback Limited is nicely appointed and very safe and reliable. Lots of options, though.

So if you already have an SUV now, why is it imperative to get a new one by the end of April?

Which have you liked in the past? Do you prefer certain makes?

+1 my "kids" are 21 and 18 so not driving anyone around anymore, and definitely no carseats, don't ever have much cargo...but still much prefer SUVs over sedans. I just prefer sitting up high and like how they ride more. I love my Mazda CX-5. Handles so well, actually pretty fun to drive, and the interior is great...honestly doesn't feel like a $32k vehicle. Have also heard good things about the CR-V, RAV-4, and the Forester. I think those four are probably tops in the mid-sized crossover market.

Op here: I currently have a 2017 Ford Escape that has had issue after issue since the month I bought it (2018). I am 100% getting rid of it before baby comes. Before this car, I had a Mazda CX-5 and before that, a CX-7. I absolutely LOVED my Mazda CX-5 and would get another in a heartbeat but we went to 2 local dealers who have them within an hour of us 2 weekends ago and their selection is so low right now. So just looking for some other similar options.

I’m due in July and our CX-5 just arrived on order. We also looked at CRVs, Rav4s, but the Mazda felt nicer.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Just got redesigned. It's gorgeous and made in America. We just ordered a hybrid 4xe which gets 20 miles all electric. Best of both worlds.

I mean, Hondas, BMWs and Toyotas are made in America too.

We ordered our Outback in November. We’re told that we may finally get it this month, but I’m not counting on it. You may find a handful of used ones on a lot somewhere, if you’re lucky.

Ourisman Mazda in Rockville seems to have a decent selection.
