I'm so proud of myself...

Major financial win from a former poor now middle class! I was previously driving a 2002 Honda Accord. I bought it in 2013, used. I grew up poor af and never ever thought I'd be able to buy a new car. But, my '02 Accord's transmission went out last week and I am now in a position where I just...decided to buy a new car! Didn't have to scour used car lots or try to get some acquaintance to fix up my transmission to avoid paying the $3k. I am in a financial position where I could afford to just junk it and go shopping for a new car. Wound up with a fresh-off-the-lot Mazda CX-5 and I absolutely LOVE it. Can't believe I've gotten to a place in my life where this is possible!

Good for you! I remember being like you as well. I bought my first new car at the age of 30. I was very poor growing up and could not imagine ever buying a new car. I know what you are feeling. Proud and so happy to have a reliable car that you know is a great car because it’s new. Congrats

For sure!! Omg, when I was poor I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders with money worries. And not having that stress definitely makes for a happier life.

woohoo! Last year I finally traded in my 17-year-old car for a 1.5-year-old car. It was so awesome to finally have as nice of a car as my daughter's teenage sports coaches. And to have functioning air conditioning again.

It's great to be in a position to be able to afford a new car, but their worth drops the second they're driven off the lot. Having bought new and used I would never buy new again. Total waste of money.

That is categorically untrue these days. Since dealers are strongly discouraged and even punished for selling over MSRP, that brand new car can be sold on the used market for more than MSRP. I recently bought new at MSRP and could have sold it for a profit before leaving the dealership.

yes, yes, yes. don't need all the money in the world, but need enough that when a crisis like this hits (and it is a crisis if this is your only mode of transportation), you are able to solve it and quickly.

GL and keep it on!
