Masks on buses?

Anonymous
Is this still required tomorrow? I tried looking at their website and it says they are because of the CDC, then links to the CDC website that was updated saying they are not universally required any longer.

Thanks for posting this. I came here looking for same info. The FCPS website and their latest email really don't make it clear.

Brabrand said there'd be more updates today, so I'm looking to see this then.

Our Principal got asked this on Facebook and said she didn't think so but didn't know for sure yet and would clarify when she finds out.

I thought that school busses fell under the Feds and so masks were required, just like commuter buses and trains. I could be wrong about that but I thought that was the explanation for masks on buses while not in school.

I know that I work in a Federal Office Building so I have to wear a mask regardless of the transmission level.

CDC just changed it on Friday for school buses specifically and only. Technically still in the order but they said to stop complying and they are no longer enforcing: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/face-masks-public-transportation.html

My understanding is that school busses do not fall under the federal mandate because they are not public transportation as member of the public can't juts walk onto a school bus.

Our ES principal said masks are not required on buses.

Thank you for sharing. This makes sense in light of Friday's CDC change.

It does make sense. I wish yesterday’s message from FCPS addressed this item directly and specifically.
Hopefully it will get addressed in such a way today, on our day of planning

We were sent a slide desk from the principal saying they are optional on buses.

Thanks. I told my 1st grader that she probably would need her mask on the bus but I wasn’t sure. The kids are packed in on the bus though! She’s really excited to not have to wear it at school.

This is OP. Thanks for the responses. I told my middle school son to keep some in his backpack tomorrow and be happy he no longer has to mask all day. It’s not worth causing an argument on the bus if we are not sure. He’s been vaccinated and has had covid recently so he’s really sick of the masks.
