Infertility Support and Discussion
| I don't want to shell out the big bucks, but also don't want to waste money on ones folks have found not to work. Thanks in advance for your recommendations. |
| clear blue, as per shady grove. |

I just bought some CB ones at Walgreens at 25% off. The cheapest I have ever seen them for a kit of 7.
Has anyone figured out how to use them the next month if you don't use all the sticks. The reader stops working. I am the poster that has the faint line on the HPT this morning. I hope to not be using the OPKs I just bought. I bought them b/c the price was so good, but I was there to buy the HPT. |
| I had good luck with the CVS brand where you get 20 test (strip not stick) for like 16 bucks. I found them to be VERY reliable and would last me 2-3 months even though the instructions say don't use after 30 days. I think that's a scam. |
I also like the cvs 20-day packs, though I haven't gotten pregnant using them yet!
|
| I bought the cvs pack - 7 sticks not 20 strips -- and really I am supposed to ignore the second line unless it is the exact same color as the control line? It should be coming up positive right now but I just get a lighter second line. |
|
from what my RE/nurse said the second line should be equally dark or darker than the second line.
i was told by another RE that for some people, OPKs don't work, and he recommends blood work to check for ovulation. |
If your periods are regular, I recommend using the expensive digital ones until you get a feel for when you ovulate in your cylce, then move to the CVS ones. I used to find them hard to read, but really, the day you get the darkest test line is probably your day. |
| OP here. Shelled out $35 for the ClearBlueEasy digital 30-pack and have to vent because they don't work! Or at least I got a bad batch. Have gotten an error message twice in a row simply by putting the stick into the reader. Of course, instructions say with this type of error message to call their help line, which is only open 8:30-5pm (who is taking an OPK during that time frame?) Their website just repeats the advice to call the helpline. Grrr... |
| Do those of you using the CVS brand really start testing the day after your period ends as it says in the instructions? Or do you wait until closer to the likely day? |
NP here who uses them. I'm also charting so I use them closer to the day of expected O. I find them to be really reliable. The only funny thing is that I usually get two positive days. And I ovulate on the second one. At least it's consistent. |
