Food delivery options to Van Ness?

| We allow ourselves one day a week for take out/delivery. We are getting tired of the take out places within walking distance and looking for places that deliver. So far all we have thought of is Spices, can anyone suggest other places that will do free delivery to our area? Open to anything (eg, Italian, Thai, Chinese, etc etc). I looked at take-out taxi and it had a lot places that I know don't deliver and/or are way out of a usual delivery range, and we really don't want to pay the extra fees for that service. TIA. |

| If you haven't tried them already, in your neighborhood Indian Ocean is excellent, and Italian Pizza Kitchen is pretty good (order the margherita not the cheese); also Paragon Thai in Cleveland Park. |

| In addition to Paragon Thai and Spices, also in Cleveland Park, try Fresh Med. It's really good Mediterranean and we have found their delivery very reliable. |

Two very good Indian places deliver to the area: Heritage India and Masala Art.
Sushiko in Chevy Chase also delivers on weekends. |

OP here... we will have to try Mr Chen's. We routinely do Shanghai Garden for Chinese take out and think it is ok. The food tends to be uneven, we usually order the same stuff and it is great one time and very blah the next time. We do Tesaro for pizza take out, it has a thin style crust, almost like NY. I like the pizza better at Tesaro than the Italian Pizza Kitchen, but the calzones at the Pizza Kitchen are nice. I tried two different paninis at the Pizza Kitchen and didn't really like either. Per prior PP's suggestion we tried Paragon Thai and thought it was pretty good and will do that again. Prior to DD, I think I did take out/delivery maybe once a year, but funny how things change.... |

| We tried Mr Chen's once and found the food gloppy; I much prefer Spices. But interested to hear of others' experiences. |

After moving to CP from Dupont, I suddenly also felt like there was a dearth of places that delivered. Then I found this site - it's got a lot more options that I ever guessed! Mr. Chen's is totally hit and miss, but I love Spring Garden. You can even order online - it's great.

| Try Listrani's--it is on Mcarthur Blvd. Good Italian food. Delivery takes about 40 minutes to Van Ness. |

Not delivery, but have you tried Vace's for take-out pizza? They're in Cleveland Park, which I would consider walkable to Van Ness. By far my favorite pizza in DC, although I now go to the Bethesda location.
When I lived in Van Ness, I liked 4912 Thai (they're in Tenleytown, but deliver to VN) but it's been three years, so maybe things have changed. |
