Motor City's paper of record predicts this is going to be a new normal. Huge SUVs and pickups are the bread and butter of domestic auto industry and the go-to vehicles in suburbia. End of an era?
"Gas prices are going higher, for longer than drivers have seen in a generation. Huge SUVs will be for presidents, gangsters and oligarchs." https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/2022/02/24/ukraine-russia-car-buyers-automakers/6924503001/ |

| Doubtful. I will not give up my gas guzzler but I don't drive much. Its equally bad to have a smaller car and drive it more. |
| Ridiculous: fullsize pickups are basically the same and are the the top sellers at Ford, GM, and Ram/Dodge/Chrysler. So if the pickups continue strong, why not the SUVs? |
| And suburban (no pun intended) parents who need to shuttle Jackson + Avery+ Hayden to various travel sports practices and games, plus occasionally drive carpool. |
I think they're predicting some pickup sales crash, too, if gas is $6 or 7 a gallon. But pickups are necessary in many industries. Suzie and Carter don't need to be hauled to practice in a 14mpg Chevy Suburban, Escalade, G-Class Mercedes, or Ford Expedition. |

There are electric SUV’s right now. And electric P/U’s are already taking orders.
They aren’t going anywhere. |
Don't forget little baby Beauden.

| FYI the absolute best and most in-depth global automotive industry coverage you will find will be from the Detroit papers (Freep, DetnNews, Crain's). |
Neither do Nathan and Ebony. Racist. |

Detroit should be making small, basic cars then
