Michigan

Have any deferred EA applicants received any updates. I know of two deferred Michigan residents that were admitted today. Hoping to hear the same news for my DC soon.

I heard they only released the RD results for in-state kids today.

So dumb. What's the point of asking people to apply early if you're going to make the wait?

This is an awful process.

These are RD results, not EA. Have you seen the results from all of the nations top publics? They are seem to be deferring and waitlisting in record numbers.

Last year my VA DC was postponed in January from EA into RD. He was admitted in this first wave of RD, on the last Friday of February 2021. The number of admits was small, but it did include OOS.

There will be another wave in late March, then the final massive wave of decisions in April.

And yes, it is an awful process.

I don't understand what you're saying. They aren't just RD results. People who applied EA have been deferred while RD applicants have been accepted. Makes no sense. Don't string along someone who got their act together and applied early. That person could have applied RD and been in the same boat.

Not entirely correct, since applicants were admitted EA last month. I guess it’s just better to reject most EA requests. That way no one gets strung along and then they can wait for their deferrals/rejections at other top schools.

Maybe their scores aren't as strong as the RD applicant's? By applying EA they get two bites of the apple. They get to write a strong letter of continued interest, etc.
