Another Find My Next Read thread

I have had good luck reading books recommended here. I am in a rut: I do not like sci fi or fantasy or hard core thrillers - psychological or otherwise

I like: funny (early Sophie Kinsella and Jennifer Weiner), John Grisham, Moriarty. Things I like recently: the paper palace, the wife upstairs, we are all adults here, the nightingale, the four winds (mostly) and books about the Housewives. Thank you!!!

Have you tried Elin Hildebrand or Kate Quinn? You may also enjoy 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Thrillers: Last Mrs. Parrish, Lucy Foley books, The Push

Oops just read that you don’t like thrillers. I thought you may like those based on The Wife Upstairs.

Oh and try Anne Tyler, Curtis Sittenfeld (probably not Rodham but Prep or American Wife), Anne Patchett. Patchett has a lovely set of essays that helped me break my reading rut.

Last Mrs Parrish made me feel like I couldn't shower enough when it was over, even with the clever ending. I don't recommend.

I think sue Hepworth is similar to liane moriarty. Try her books.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill

You may also like Elly Griffiths, more of a cozy mystery author than thrillers.

Try John Sandford's "Prey" series.

Beach Read or People you meet on Vacation- both by Emily Henry. Funny, sexy and tug at the heart strings.

Have you ever read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides? Awesome book.

I just read Roots by Alex Haley. A great family saga over several generations.

Pachinko is a similar multi-generation family story, and the movie’s coming out this year too.

I like Elly Griffiths a lot but wouldn't call her books funny - I find they can be pretty dark.

OP, if you like early Kinsella, try Hester Browne. Her Little Lady Agency series is a fun read. Meg Cabot also has some good stuff, e.g. the Queen of Babble (full confession: I like her YA stuff too).
