Hamas doesn't know how many people died "five minutes after anything." As I understand it, the official death toll is (or was) a tally of people confirmed dead in the hospital, but now many of the hospitals are out of service, and many of the injured can't get to the functioning hospitals, so their deaths go unrecorded. Nobody knows how many dead are under the rubble. Hamas probably genuinely doesn't know how many hostages are dead or alive because other militant groups kidnapped some of the hostages, and their locations are unknown. Hamas hostages may have a better chance of being alive than non-Hamas hostages because they're apparently kept underground in the tunnels. Other militia groups may be keeping their hostages above ground, where they probably have a 1 in 50 chance of being killed by bombs. All have an ever-increasing chance of dying from disease or malnutrition. |
Memri doesn't interview anyone, they scan the other TV channels, pick out the most odious bits, translate it and then post with "will ya look at that!" commentary. |
I'm probably one of the most vocal Israeli and Zionism critics in these 2,700 pages and I essentially agree with everything you just said. |

Hamas fired rockets into Israel yesterday.
They didn’t do anything but the fact that they are still able to do this five months into a war is rather embarrasing. Embarrassing that Hamas is more concerned with throwing rockets instead of feeding their people or thinking the rockets would do any damage , and embarrasing that Israel hasn’t gotten control of Hamas or their stockpiles yet after five months |

I can’t help but wonder if the well liked political rival to Netanyahu Benny Gantz would be a better PM for Israel than Netanyahu. Gantz was just in DC a week ago to speak to Biden and Blinken and they consider him a more likable and reliable guy than Netanyahu. Netanyahu couldn’t stand it and even told Gantz last week that he is not the prime minister. He was feeling insecure about Gantz’ solo US invite even though he grandstanded and disrespected Obama and Biden numerous times.
Netanyahu is furious the US snubbed him https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-03-04/ty-article/.premium/israeli-source-enraged-netanyahu-trying-to-undermine-gantz-u-s-visit/0000018e-08a9-d822-a9ce-7dbfdcbb0000 https://apnews.com/article/israel-gantz-netanyahu-gaza-war-5174c723b53747229cc43b254f1768a7 |

JERUSALEM (AP) — The top political rival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with U.S. leaders in Washington this week to discuss the war in Gaza. Benny Gantz is a key member of Israel's War Cabinet whose popularity is on the rise — and who has a pivotal role to play in the country's future.
Gantz, 64, is a centrist politician who joined Netanyahu’s ultranationalist and religious government soon after Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel. The goal was to bring a sense of national unity to the country as it wages war against Hamas in Gaza. The former military chief of staff has seen his public support soar. Polls show he would earn enough support to become prime minister if elections were held today. In contrast, Netanyahu’s backing has collapsed. Many Israelis blame the prime minister for failing to prevent the Hamas attack, which killed 1,200 Israelis, most of them civilians. Amid the rivalry, Gantz' trip to Washington earned him a rebuke from Netanyahu, a sign of the growing rift in the government. Gantz is widely expected to leave the government once the heavy fighting subsides, signaling the period of national unity has ended. The Israeli public will likely see that as a cue to resume the mass anti-government demonstrations that took place before Hamas’ attack. While the government wouldn't collapse if Gantz leaves, large demonstrations could ramp up the pressure on Netanyahu's deeply unpopular coalition to hold early elections. Gantz has been a top political rival of Netanyahu's for half a decade. He joined Netanyahu’s coalition in the disorienting days after Hamas’ attack and at a time when Israel was at its most divided after months of protests over planned changes to Israel’s legal system. He has served on the influential War Cabinet and has acted as a moderating force in the far-right government. He has sought to promote the cause of the roughly 250 hostages taken into Gaza, while others in the Cabinet opposed dealing for their release because of the cost it could exact from Israel. He has also sought to foster Israel's alliance with the U.S., which has provided key diplomatic and military support during the war. Gantz heads the National Unity faction in parliament. After a nearly four decade military career, Gantz entered politics in late 2018. That was the start of a period of political instability that sent Israelis to the polls five times in less than four years, each one a referendum on Netanyahu’s fitness to serve while facing corruption charges. |
Maybe too early to tell, but Gantz seems far more agreeable than the corrupt war criminal. |
| Gantz is no better than Netanyahu. He may not (yet) be corrupt but he's no dove. He may be one degree left of him but that's it. |
Perhaps true, but at this point, I'm pretty sure the devil we know needs to go - regardless the potential of the devil we don't know. The only thing Netanyahu would be good for at this point is a PPV event where he's forced to live in exile on an island surrounded by the ghosts of all the innocent people his regime has murdered over the course of his disgraced career. |
| Biden is going to have the U.S. military deliver aid to Israel through a port in Gaza. Thank God! Malnutrition is right at the point of getting completely out of control. |
Netanyahu owns Biden. This is not a good look for the U.S, this move solidifies the notion that Israel is controlling things. |
Saving Israel from itself, thank God. |
The left in America has been campaigning against Netanyahu for 30 years. James Carville was advising his first opponent. They even send campaign staff. They prefer a socialist left wing prime minister who will cater to their demands of Israel surrender to Hamas. |
Did you mean aid to Gaza through a port in Israel? Gaza doesn’t have any Ports because of the blockade . Good luck with the aid actually getting from Israel to Gaza via truck. From what I heard, Israelis were blocking the trucks. It were better off if the US used Egypt to send the aid |
No, we're bypassing Israel and building a temporary port in Gaza. |
