On cl and fb. Does this sound legit?
The car has been well cared for and fully serviced. New battery (with warranty), new brakes, dealer premium oil change service, etc.The engine runs great and the vehicle was recently fully inspected. I'm selling it for only $4,500 because I've just finished the divorce and I'm very glad I took it, this was my ex-husband's most precious thing. He cheated on me although we have 2 kids together. Anyway, I don't wish to bore you with my life's story... I'm having some financial problems that need to be resolved ASAP, so if you have the money available you can have it. Let me know if you have any questions or need any info. |
| The story is sus. and unnecessary. And the car information is useless, it doesn't describe a car. |
| Unless it's from your own grandma, I wouldn't count on getting a cheap, legit car right now. |

If the seller did take it to the dealership for service, the seller should have the paperwork for the “dealer premium oil change service, etc.”
If not, the dealership should. If neither can’t produce paperwork, walk away. Yes, I keep maintenance records/books on all my vehicles so when I do trade it in or sell it, no questions asked. |
Yes sadly the used car market is still a hot mess. Though it is definitely a seller’s dream. |
| This is an old joke. |
| OP, you dumped a classic scam post here. Are you clueless or just trolling? |
| I have a used and beat up looking, but still runs well 2003 lexus rx 300 with 198k miles. I think I am gong to sell it. |
+ 1 no deals to be had. |
| I've seen a few of these on CL, last time I saw an ad like this, I did quick check for CL for other random cities, and boy, I found the same car (with same text/same pics) for sale in five different cities.... |

Yeah, this is a scam OP.
The best balance between risking a Craigslist or FB scam and paying exorbitant CarMax markups is to go to a reputable used car dealer and be prepared to negotiate there. They will try to get as much as they can off of you, but they won't straight-up rip you off because they also have a reputation to protect. |
