New car: $25k or under

I know, it's a bit of a tall order. Here are some I'm considering:
- Honda Civic
- Toyota Corolla
- Toyota HR-C
- Nissan Sentra
- Nissan Altima
- Nissan Kicks
- Mazda CX-30
- Mazda 3 Hatchback

Thoughts? Any others I should add to my list?

The Corolla hands down. Ours is 16 years old and is in better shape than our 11 year old Mazda 5.

Yes, I would agree on this one.
If reliability is important to you then Toyota is a name you can definitely trust‼️

Also a Honda Civic may also be an excellent choice for the same reason.

Good luck.

Civic or Corolla

Subaru Impreza. Does just about everything (except accelerating from a dead stop) really well. Good driving dynamics and very reliable.

Cx-30.

I want this one but I can't for the life of me find one in my local area!

Honda Civic is your best bet, 100%. Also consider Kia Forte or Hyundai Elantra.

Hyundai Sonata. We have loved ours.

The Nissan Sentra is a good little car. My then girlfriend (now wife) bought a 1997 Sentra in 1999 from Carmax. We drove that car until 2009 and then sold it to a co-worker of mine. We were getting it serviced by a great shop (Rising Sun Motors in College Park). When we sold it to the co-worker, she started taking the car to Rising Sun for maintenance and they just transferred our maintenance record to her. She drove the car for 7 more years until 2016 before she finally traded it in for a different car. We took our new car to Rising Sun and whenever I would go in for maintenance, they would give me the superficial "update" on our old car. Like "oh, your old car was in for maintenance last month and it's still running great!" When the co-worker traded the car in, the car was still in decent running order, but she needed to start making long distance trips to visit a family member and was worried about driving long distances in such an old car (it was 19 years old at the time), so she traded it in for a new car for her trips. That car had well over 200K miles on it between the three owners and was still in good working order.

That car was a great little car.

I had a Sentra that I bought new in 2001. It had no problems for about 10 years/80k miles. Then it started shutting of randomly when stopped at a traffic light. Traded it for a Honda.

How come no American brands? Or VW

Because they are not as reliable. Especially VW, unless it’s diesel.

Nissans are crap. Go with a Civic.

I was dead set on a Honda Civic until I sat in the driver seat at the lot. It was so cramped! I am not even big (5ft 2in and 125 lbs). It was a hell no for me. I went with a Nissan Altima and after 9 years, still going strong with no issues.
