| We are looking to buy a hybrid minivan-Pacifica or sienna are our only choices. We can’t really decide between the two based on the obvious differences (brand, plug-in, AWD, etc.). Our main driving is city driving within 5 miles, with once a year trip to Family about 8 hours away. We test drove both and they both were fine, so one didn’t stand out against the other. We will most likely drive this until it dies, so we’re not too concerned on price. Anyone have strong opinions on one vs the other? |

I think they’re both great choices. Traditionally, Toyota’s have been more reliable than Chrysler.
Side note, if you go the plug-in hybrid route, not just regular hybrid, and almost all of your driving is short distances except for an annual trip, you could go a year with the same gasoline in the tank. Don’t do that. |
| I like both. I would probably give the nod to the new Sienna. I drove one as a rental for a few days and loved it. I have a 2018 Odyssey Elite, which I still feel drives better overall, but I wish it had a hybrid drivetrain like the Sienna that uses 1/2 the fuel for the same travel distance. |
| Thanks for the on gas and the Pacifica—I feel like this would be us as we do very little long distance driving. Thanks for the input. |
| We looked at both but managed to negotiate a much better price on the Pacifica ($10k less than the Sienna) and we we also get the $7500 tax credit on the Pacifica because it’s a PHEV, unlike the Sienna. While the Toyota will probably more reliable, it wasn’t worth $17500 more to us. |
Yes, the prices are not comparable at all. |
The Sienna will last about 150k miles longer than the Chrysler |
Who wants to drive a car that long? Not me. My current car is 8 years old and has 70k miles on it and I’m tired of it/ready for something else. |
Good luck with an 8 year old Chrysler/Fiat/whatever they are calling themselves now. |
