Food tasting and smelling bad again ?!

Anonymous
I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant. From about weeks 7-14, I could barely eat anything as everything tasted gross to me and smelled SO bad (walked into a chipotle one day and gagged and walked out). Couldn’t eat any meat, eggs, etc. as it just had such a bad taste to me. I pretty much lived off bagels with CC & chobani yogurts for weeks.

Now that I’m 22 weeks, it’s coming back! Chicken is starting to taste gross to me, red meat is bad too and last night I ordered a cheese quesadilla and the tortilla tasted so bad to me. What the heck?!? I thought these food aversions were supposed to get better, not go away and come back! I’m seriously struggling to eat foods again (tried a chicken Cesar salad today and couldn’t eat the chicken and the dressing was blah). Has this happened to anyone?? I’m going to bring it up to my OB when I see him again in a week but it’s definitely frustrating!

How’s your blood pressure? When I developed preeclampsia, my nausea and food aversions came back. You probably don’t have preE, and it’s not worth stressing over, but just something to keep in mind if you start experiencing other symptoms.

Op here; I just had an appt Monday and it was completely normal! I don’t have any nausea, just the bad tasting and smelling food again.

This happened to me especially with meat. I’ve been mostly vegetarian now. Occasionally I can stomach meat but it’s been like once every other week. Can you eat beans?

My aversions stayed pretty constant throughout my pregnancy, so I'm not surprised that yours came back a bit. Most of mine went away after the baby was born, but my taste for certain things never came back 100%.
