Infertility Support and Discussion
I had my retrieval on Sunday - 22 eggs retrieved, the plan is to do a 5 day transfer on Friday. I've been drinking alot of gatorade and smart water in hopes to prevent OHSS, but I am feeling bloated and have some pain, which is most noticeable when I am laying down and turn over, but not as much when sitting or standing. Is this pain 'normal' or more the beginnings of OHSS? Will I know by Friday if my OHSS is bad enough to need to freeze the embryos and wait a month?
OP here. Forgot to mention I was put on Dostinex and took that two days before the retrieval and again last night.
I suffered from OHSS, but didn't have to delay transfer. We did a 5-day transfer and have happy healthy twins. I did go in to have an ultrasound on day 3, just to verify that things were ok. I felt very bloaty and rather crampy and just sort of blah- but like I said, we did get to go ahead with the transfer.
OP, these symptoms can be normal but it's hard to say. I suggest weighing yourself daily to monitor weight gain and double check the info your RE gave you about when to call in to check on this stuff.
Thanks, OP here. Talked to my RN who talked to my RE. He said I would be in his office already if there was a problem, and that he wasn't concerned. Going ahead w/5 day transfer this week!
