Does SB 739 apply to teachers?

The language appears geared to parent choice. Are teachers and staff allowed to unmask?
Anonymous
I’ll bet not.

Also not to childcare centers - horribly, our smallest learners are going to be in masks the longest.

No.

The language of the bill only applies to students. Teachers and staff must still mask - because of a federal mandate? I have lost track.

Honestly, why do people care anymore if other people don't get vaccinated? I was hugely pro-vaccine at the start because I thought it would bring case numbers down and slow transmission. We have learned that it does neither. So if some shmuck is suicidal and wants to try his immune system against Covid, why would anyone else care? If you want to jump into a cage with a lion to try your muscles against his claws, who cares?

Read up on the purpose of herd immunity, my friend. We get vaccinated so that the vulnerable (immuno-compromised, allergic, too young) are not exposed to a disease.

Which is awesome when the vaccine provides sterilizing immunity, like the measles vaccine, where you won’t transmit once you have it. Covid vaccines are more like the flu vaccine - reduce personal risk, slightly reduce transmission risk. I wish they were better at reducing transmission than they are. When it looked like they were 90% effective against transmission I was pro-mandate. Now that it’s been shown to be much less mandates make less sense.

Improved ventilation standards, widespread treatment and preventative access (evushield anyone?), copious cheap rapid tests, paid sick leave, flexibility for the immunocompromised to have remote options for work and school if they want - these are sustainable responses to this virus.
