Nice drive near Three Village area?

I am visiting an elderly relative next weekend. He lives in the Three Village area (suffolk county) and the weather looks like it will be sunny but cold. He has memory loss and some physical infirmities that would keep us from walking (he uses a walker and getting in and out of the car is enough of a challenge), and he is avoiding crowded indoor places so no movie theaters or things like that (plus he needs a very accessible restroom so we won't want to be out for long--maybe an hour tops).

Any suggestions of a nice place to drive? I was thinking of Port Jefferson village/harbor. Any other places where we might be able to park for a few minutes and see the water from the car or something? I realize this is not the time of year for holiday lights or flowering trees or anything pretty like that!

Other suggestions beyond a drive also welcome...I'm sure we'll do some simple board games, Olympics-watching, takeout food, looking at photo albums, listing to music...
