Epicurious-Paywall?

Anonymous
Anyone know what happened with epicurious.com? One of my favorite go to apps/sites, now says I have to pay $30. Any suggestions on what to use in addition to my NYTimes and Food Network apps? I just like a one-stop experience.

I heard (and feared) this was coming. I used the app this weekend and just tried it now and I didn't hit the paywall. I honestly will probably pay if they make me becuase I use it a ton. I pay for Milk Street too. I also like Sally's Baking Addiction and The Spruce Eats (both free).

Oh crap, I just went back and it gave me 3 "free" recipes and now I have to pay.

I have the all-access subscription to America’s Test Kitchen and I get NYT cooking as part of my regular subscription. I am not going to pay for anything else.

I'm so torn..... I do love epicurious, I've taken many great recipes from there. And they are a business. But there are so many free sites - many with epicurious recipes.....

People complain about the preamble to free recipes, they complain about having to pay to get just recipes -- what do you want?

I'm going to pull out and ONLY use my old school cookbooks, jr league cookbooks from 1940s. Shortening and casseroles, here I come!

I get the print subscription of Bon Appetit, so I get digital access. It's only $15 a year, cheaper I guess because of the ads? Not sure.
