Hi, we are hiring a nanny starting next month, and would will pay her on the books. We are looking for recommendations for an easy to use payroll service that will help us compute the payroll taxes and prepare quarterly filings and a W2 at the end of the year.
We are okay setting up direct deposit separately and keeping track of hours separately if the payroll service doesn't do that. Would like to pay weekly, but have not actually discussed that with the nanny. I also heard something about a schedule H that can be filed at the end of the year to reclaim federal unemployment taxes against state taxes that were paid. Is that something that's easy to fill out yourself, or should we look for a payroll service that takes care of that too? |
I used GTM based on a recommendation from here and had re-occurring problems. I have heard good things about homepay which is part of care.com. |
We use Poppins Payroll. It does everything you're asking, it's simple and easy to use, and we've used it for almost two years with no issues at all.
It's also the cheapest option. It doesn't look as cheap as some of the others but that's because the monthly fee is all inclusive. Most of the others have additional fees for tax forms. If you do the math, it's cheaper. |
We used homepay on Care.com for three years. It's great. They have good customer service, too. |
I second the recommendation for homeypay on care.com. It's easy to use, the fees are reasonable, and the customer service is great (very easy to get someone on the phone to help you). |
Thank you for the recommendations! |
I also really like Homepay. We've used it for years including back when it was Breedlove. They have always had good customer service. |
