I agree. I didn't vote for him, but this is a profoundly stupid and dangerous take. I think there is a very good case for removing any remaining restrictions now. Moreover, the issue should be debated on its merits, not with this kind of ad hominem attack.

What are you talking about? Are you even paying attention to what’s happening nationally? Oregon, Connecticut, Delaware and New Jersey are dropping a rolling back their mask mandates. All of them are Democratic governors. In dark blue states. Nothing about this is pandering to the ‘right’.

Yup. Demanding that the restrictions all remain in place when there is no need for them would be crazy. And for that reason, it would also not be a winning electoral strategy. This isn't about the Republican right, it is about common sense.
