My son is having a good experience. He's in the honors college so that might be a little different. He loves the weather, enjoys hiking and going out on the lake. Finds the classes very challenging. Has complained some about how many people there are super religious, but I'm from that area so I warned him about that beforehand.

Packaging science? Is that a typo?

Do a lot of students at these southern schools go to church on sundays?

My daughter is there and wants to transfer. The southern culture is real and she feels like an outsider. A lot of the students are pretty religious and into a christian club, I can't remember the name. Girls still do debutante balls and things like that. And sadly, the diversity that exists on campus is very segregated. It is like taking a step back in time.

Yes, and also on Wednesday nights, and there is Young Life. There are very large and active Baptist campus ministries at all of these schools. Other churches also have ministries but they are a bit smaller. There is way more talk about accepting Jesus as your personal savior and finding your church home than I had seen at a secular college. I went to grad school there.

Unless you’re a born-again Christian, run from this school.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Thank you for sharing. I hope your daughter finds a great place to transfer to. Maybe she could start a "Damn Yankee" clu in the meantime?

Most of the replies are probably from people who have no idea what they are talking about. It is a beautiful place and a great time and a lot of different types of people.
