New season Sweet Magnolias

Anyone watch? It dropped on Netflix last week. The dialogue is really bad/saccharine but the actors give it their all, for the most part - they try. The actress who plays Helen is terrific. The whole plot line with Frances was odd, considering she barely appeared before they killed her off and then made a huge deal about her impact on the community. I do like that they focus on multi-generational relationships, and the value in that but this was handled a bit oddly. The boy who plays the older brother/teen baseball star does more staring into the distance pensively than speaking/acting and the the guy who plays the cheating ex-DH (I think his name is Chris Klein?) has created an oddly squinty character with strange physicality. Long stretches were boring. But the season was eaay to binge, and very light and mindless, which is called for sometimes.

I was surprised nobody posted about it.

I had no idea the new season was out. Definitely will try to catch up

I started episode one of season 2 last night. Even with the recap, I was a bit lost. I might go back and rewatch the final
episode of season 1.

For easy laughs with a Korean accent, please see Kim's Convenience.

OP here - sorry for the Frances spoiler, although in itself it’s not really a part of the plot.

Watched it already and enjoyed it!

I posted on another thread but seriously the accents and the platitudes are horrible and distracting.

I don’t even remember Francis! The season 1 recap did not do its job and didn’t even go into what lead up to the car crash, so I have no idea why all the teens are mad at each other. The only part I think I remember was between Kyle and Annie, and Kyle’s “incel” anger at Annie needs to be addressed.

Omg the platitudes! The loss of brain cells is palpable while watching this dreck. The first season wasn’t this bad, was it, or did I forget?

PP here. I don’t remember hating it this much! I mean, I was excited to see there was another season so it must’ve been okay?

It's so bad that I can't stop watching it.

I had to rewatch the last episode of season 1 because I couldn't remember any of the plot lines.

This season seems particularly bad. Just terrible, terrible writing. Silly plots. The romance between Cal and Maddie (if I’m getting the name right) - total cheese. But I do like the houses/furnishings.

The lead and her BF are boring, the kids are boring, and the writing is beyond awful. I don't think the two more interesting friends are enough to keep me watching.

I like Helen's pantsuits. Dana Sue is annoying with how she is handling/handled her relationships. The villains in this show are too over the top.

It’s interesting to me how Chris Klein’s character kind of fades away halfway through the season. Like, is not involved with his kids at all anymore?
