Hold up...a firm is taking their case pro bono??? You've got to be kidding! Which firm? Do we know the lawyer's name? Super curious. |
Wiley Rein, and one of the lawyers is Matthew Dowd. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/free-range-parents-plan-to-file-lawsuit-after-police-pick-up-children/2015/04/14/ed4f7658-e2b7-11e4-b510-962fcfabc310_story.html |

What was CPS doing while they held the children for two hours? |
Getting someone with ANY authority to answer the phone on a Sunday. Just my guess. |
I can't understand why so many people are opposed to CPS unless it is the same poster stating it over and over and over and over.....
For those of us who haven't had any run ins with CPS or police who are accusing us of neglect, we tend to feel a lot more neutral on the subject. I have to believe that the parents are on this thread posting all of this anti CPS/nanny state crap because they are pushing their obvious agenda. Why are you using your children to put yourselves in the spotlight? |
I think so too, which is why some heads need to roll at CPS. I assume they have a rotation of people on call every weekend, since child abuse can happy at any time day or night. The person who didn't respond to the officer's call in a timely manner deserves a reprimand or firing. |
I haven't noticed anybody who is opposed to CPS in principle. Could you be more specific, please? Also, I'm amused that you would think it's the parents posting. I think they're probably quite busy at the moment. Do you find it impossible to imagine that there are posters on DCUM who are not involved in the case and believe that CPS overreached? |
Oh! PP thought "pro bono" meant Legal Aid. |
I'm not opposed to cps as a general concept. I hope they investigate and take care of kids who are being abused and neglected. I happen to strongly believe these kids don't fall into either category. I think the police and cps are doing more damage to those kids by holding them for hours, than their parents did by letting them play at the park by themselves for an hour. And for the record, this is my first post on this thread, and I have no connection to the parents. I just think people are irrationally fearful, and we've reached a point where the govt is enforcing those fears, and I don't think that's good for anyone. |
Actually, I thought the parents had hired a lawyer since someone keeps posting a link to a site collecting money for their legal fees. |
It was a safety ... They signed it before court. |
CPS is a crap shoot. That's why I haven't filed reports when maybe I should have. You never know if things would turn out better, or worse. |
Interested in the answers to these questions. |
