Would an agency place an au pair with a family like this?

Anonymous
I hate that this is bothering me so much, but I know a family with a creep husband and they are in the process of trying to find an au pair. Years ago the husband was tried for felony assault on a woman, but somehow entered a not-guilty plea and was offered some sort of deal. You know, money talks. Please assure me an agency would be able to find this in his background and not place a girl with him!

i'd send the agency an anonymous letter to let them know

You need to report that to State Dept! You can do that anonymously. https://www.stateoig.gov/hotline

The agency only cares about money. Of course, they will roll over to find an au pair for this family and it would not matter if the husband is a convicted rapist or pedophile!

Au pair agencies only perform a cursory background check. It's up to the au pair and family to screen each other during the interview process.

If the au pair is placed with this family and there is an issue, then the au pair would have a LCC to help assist the au pair if things go south.

It's not a perfect system. It's the equivalent of online dating. Enter the program at your own risk.

Are you absolutely certain of the facts of this husband? It's not neighborhood gossip or heresay or just being presumptuous?

Did this allegedly scenario occur 5+ yrs ago (stature of limitations in most states)?

You could also report in a letter to the main au pair facilitators. They don’t want the bad attention.

I don’t think the agencies do any check on families.

This family is eligible including the father. He was tried and found innocent or at least "not guilty".

You cannot host an aupair if you have been convicted of a felony. You can be charged and tried for a crime and be innocent.

Mind your other business, it’s the company’s job to run background checks on families not your job to be a tattletale
