No more contact tracing or quarantining at our Arlington Diocese k-8 school.

We just got email from principal. We will not be informed if a classmate tests positive for covid. No need to stay home if unmasked covid positive student was sitting next to your DC. Vaccination status not taken into account. Is your school doing the same thing? Email says they are following new Virigina Dept of Health and Fairfax County Dept of Health guidlines. Is this a recipe for disaster, or with cases going down, is it a sign of the end?

At our MD school:
"Additionally, when a Covid Positive student returns after 5 days of having had no symptoms or had no fever for at least 24 hours with no medication, we ask that they eat lunch in outside spaces and mask at the table when not physically eating."

Not sure about contact tracing.
Vaccination is required.
Tested every week (PCR)

I am OP. Currently our school is mask optional and vaccines are not mandated. It will be interesting.

Did you school provide a link to new Fairfax guidance?

Sounds bad. Our private is not Catholic and has been great so far. They have optional school-wide testing available and we get a weekly report of the results, and notification whenever there is a positive in our grade level. There is no quarantine required for masked, vaccinated students - at least not that we've heard of. Not sure how long for kids that actually test positive. They usually follow CDC.

Our school has masks and most kids are vaccinated and we also have weekly testing. The result of that is that my kid has not missed one day of school due to covid. Kids who actually get it are the only ones that have to quarantine, and there haven't been that many. Not sure why you think letting everyone in school get it and having everyone end up in quarantine is a good idea. You don't sound too bright.
