| How much is customary? |
| $50 if he was pleasant and did a good job. |
| $0 is customary. |
| If its a plumber, especially the owner of the company no, but if its a sub from lowes/home depot type thing, I would. $20-40 |
Employee (not owner) from local company. |
| Now we have to tip plumbers? Electricians? Painters? Handyman? Who is on the tipping list now?? |
I'm the OP - I have no idea. The barista wants to be tipped and they make a decent hourly wage and get health insurance. This guy has been slogging in and out of the cold all day. |
|
This is not a thing.
I'm not saying you shouldn't have asked, OP, but our society has gone off the rails with tipping. Don't do it. |
| No, I would not tip. |
If they do a good job and you can afford it, maybe $20-40, or $25. If they came quickly and did a good job, I would. We did when we had ours installed. I am not a huge tipper but the guy came quickly and was really nice about it. |
| I don’t tip plumbers or electricians. I only tip regular laborers. |
Curious, on why do you make that distinction? |
| Was this an all day job? I’d definitely tip him… maybe $50. |
| I paid a plumber $400 to install a hot water heater. No tip. |
That's really cheap. We paid $1000K for the install alone. |
