Aldi vs Lidl

I have never been to Lidl and once to Aldi. Aldi didn't seem to have much at least in the location that I went and never went back.

What is your experience? Thinking of giving Lidl a try - is it good quality? What do you buy - veggies, or just packaged items

I really like Lidl. Cheaper than giant and wegmens but nicer than aldi. The bakery section is delicious. The produce is pretty good-every now and then the produce will rot too quickly-but every time that happens, I file a complaint through their app and I get a gift card. There’s a fair amount of name brand items, but the Lidl brand items are good too. The milk, eggs, and cheese are cheap and good.

Not a huge fan of Aldi, though ours always had good produce. I like Lidl a lot more. Very happy with the quality and the prices.

Lidl does seem a lot nicer than Aldi.

I've only been to Lidl once and it was a slightly nicer Aldi. It was brighter, cleaner, and had a real baker and a better meat/seafood selection.

I like Aldi, but don't go there on a regular basis since they don't have name brand products. It's good for stocking up on basics every once in a while. Have not been to Lidl yet. We had Aldi's for many years before Lidl opened up. You've piqued my interest.

I think Aldi is ok for stocking up on some basics. I would go to Lidl for bakery items.

Lidl has more items overall, but I tend to find much better quality produce at Aldi.

Aldi has better dairy products, apart from yogurt. Half and half or cream I particularly find to be shortdated at Lidl.

Deli meats are better at Lidl. Chicken is better at Lidl. Beef and pork are better at Aldi.

Aldi has better prices on junk food, Lidl has more variety, quality is equivalent.

Unsweetened breakfast cereals are better at Lidl. Sweetened are better at ALDI. Oatmeal is better at Aldi.

Aldi has better chocolate Candy, Lidl has better fruit candies. Lidl has better nuts, but more expensive. Aldi has better baking supplies. Lidl has a more extensive pantry selection, but I prefer prices at Aldi and quality is equivalent. Except marmalade. Lidl marmalade blows Aldi out of the water.

Aldi has better frozen junk food, otherwise Lidl frozen is superior.

Paper and plastic goods are better at Aldi. Health and beauty supplies are far superior at Lidl. Ditto for baby supplies. I also prefer their cleaning supplies, but rarely buy them so can’t make a firm comparison.

Fruit and veg generally better at Lidl, but not enough difference to matter. Aldi generally has better non sale prices. Lidl a better selection.

Fresh bakery is better at Lidl, prepackaged baked items (sandwich bread, bagels, etc) far superior at Aldi.
