Got a craving, and it's hard to find a good bread loaded with 'stuff.' Does anyone have a good jalapeno cheddar bread recipe, for those of us with simple kitchens? Or baking advice, without a dutch oven?

| As someone who doesn’t know how to bake bread, I’d get a package of Trader Joe’s beer bread, which is delicious but has more of a quick bread texture and add cheddar and jalapeños. |
| Nope. But I’ve bought Red Lobster Biscuit mix, added about double the amount of extra sharp cheddar cheese, baked them on a cookie sheet, and been very happy. If you get stuck for recipes, this plus a handful of jalapeños might be a nice stopgap until you find the recipe you’re looking for. |

I don’t, OP - I’ve never made it. But I make a lot of bread and never use a bread maker or a Dutch oven. You don’t need gear to make good bread!
I looked up some recipes and it looks like a plain white bread with cheddar and jalapeño added. Pretty straight forward! Just skip the “cook in Dutch oven” bit. Use a bread pan, or free form it into a round or oval loaf and put it on a cookie sheet. If you want the crispy crust, put another pan of some sort into the oven as it preheats. When you put the bread in to bake add a cup of hot water to it second, hot pan. It will create steam in the oven and that will crisp the crust. That is all the Dutch oven is doing - creating steam. |
| Why do you need a Dutch oven? I buy this bread from Wegmans and it looks like a regular loaf. |

you don't need a mix for beer bread. it is very easy. google beer bread. you can add in the extras that you want.
i make this often and it is always a hit! |

You can franken-recipe this with a no-knead dough and a regular loaf pan (like you would bake a pound cake in.
Here's a ham-and-cheese idea. Leave out the ham, add shredded cheese & jalepenos, and don't fuss with the folding method shown in this recipe. https://artisanbreadinfive.com/2013/01/14/ham-and-cheese-pull-apart-bread-with-gold-medal-flour-2/ These guys don't provide their master recipes because they'd like you to buy their book (you should! It's excellent!) but you can google a no-knead bread method that will work in a loaf pan. |

Moosewood cookbook had a really simple recipe
And I like the red lobster cheddar biscuits too, like PP! |
