Would you send 14 and 12 yr old to sleepway camp in summer 2022? We have to decide now before it books but it's so hard to know what is happening with covid. They would be living in college dorms with strangers maskless. The camp requires vaccination or testing. They would be on a college campus where other camps are also being held.
Yes. I’m no scientist and this pandemic is up and down, but we sent our kids last summer (they were 11 and 12) and had the time of their lives.
After skipping Summer 2020, DS went to sleep away last summer and it was the best thing ever. Send them! If its a responsible camp with Covid protocols (our camp did a great job) then the kids will be fine.
Would, I no. Would you, sure, what not?
OP, are your kids vaccinated?
Yes. My 10 and 13 year olds are heading to sleep away camp this summer. The 13 yo went last summer as well (10 yo didn’t want to, but I would’ve felt fine covid-safety wise). Both kids are vaccinated. Don’t yet know the protocol this summer, but last year they required a negative PCR test prior to the first day and then did a round of testing during the session. It’s likely safer than going to school, since once they’re there it’s essentially a bubble.

yes, send them! the sleepaway camps have this down to a science. they test, make a safe bubble and have a blast. Best thing we did last summer was send our boys to camp!
|
I sent my kids last summer (one vaccinated, one not) and am happily, without worry, sending both now-vaccinated kids this summer. Their camps require vaccination, pre-camp testing, testing at drop off, and another round of testing a couple days into camp. Last summer, neither camp had a single positive case.
I sent one of my kids last summer. She was vaccinated and they had some pretty strict Covid precautions. She had an absolute blast and it was the best thing last summer for her mental health. In fact, she’s already register to go back this coming summer.
Of course. Did it last year too.
Yes! My kids went in 2020 and 2021 - zero cases either year.
My kids' camp was canceled in 2020, but they had it in 2021 with testing and my kids went. This year they say everyone has to be vaxxed to attend and I'm guessing they'll also do some testing.

Which summer camps do you guys send the kids to? I have an almost 8 and 11 year old, and would love to look in to this

Total grammar fail. Stop the meds. |
Yes! Unless you have some sort of extraordinary high-risk situation, your kids NEED this return to normalcy. The camps have every incentive to create a safe bubble.
