Recommendation for vet who will do home visit in Rockville area?

Anonymous
Something has spooked my cat about the vet - she no longer tolerates it and freaked the F out when I brought her for her exam with rabies shot yesterday. She’s never liked the vet but this was the first time she became so terrified and uncontrollable. Two people could not contain her in a towel or keep her calm and they had to give up and prescribe a sedative for her (gabapentin, I think?) for another visit. I’m supposed to sprinkle it in her treat or food the night before her appt., and the next morning before bringing her in. This seems like a lot and I’m uneasy, although the vet was reassuring and talked me through it.

But I’m wondering if there is a vet who could come to our home and at least give the rabies shot, which is legally required.

Thanks.

We adopted a cat this summer. He’s a complete lunatic at the vet and will need to be sedated for future visits. I debated having a vet come to our house, but I want the cat to feel safe in our home. Not wary of any potential visitors that they might poke and prod him. I don’t want to chance creating a behavioral issue with guests so probably will just sedate him and take him next time.

Oh gosh, I hadn’t even thought of that, PP. I certainly don’t want my car to become frightened of people or anxious in our home. I’ll have to read up on that. She really just needs a rabies shot - I’m not as concerned about a routine check-up under the circumstances.
