Which is better to cut: wine or chocolate?

Anonymous
Not getting a grip on those pandemic pounds. I just keep adding. Got into the habit of too much sitting, wine drinking, and chocolate eating. The increasing number on the scale is a real bummer. If I’m going to cut one (I don’t have the willpower to do it all), which behavior change will give me the biggest bang for the bank. I suspect cutting out the wine?

Wine for sure. Will probably lead to less chocolate and couch sitting. It did for me at least!

Wine. No question.

It depends on which one you you consume the most. One glass of one vs a pound of chocolate? So, figure out which is causing most calories. Also think about what will replace the habit and its effect.

I don't drink alcohol, but cannot stop chocolate entirely (specifically, during that PMS week). I'm also struggling to lose the last 10 lbs.

I would say that alcohol is more harmful to your body than chocolate overall, not just in terms of weight gain, but I'm biased, and of course it depends on your relative consumption of both

Easier to cut chocolate (just don't buy any). It can feel like you're out of the loop socially when you cut alcohol.

Wine for sure. Also quit eating imitation chocolate (the crap filled with milk powder and sugar). Buy the darkest chocolate you can find (85-90% percent cacao), and a small little piece will be deeply satisfying. Plus cacao solids have flavanols and minerals that benefit your body.

Wine. Alcohol has all kinds of negative health impacts, not even including the calories, so if you had to give up one, pick that. (I'm not a teetotaler, but between wine and chocolate, giving up the former is overall much better for your health.)

Wine. not entirely. save it for when you want to have a glass on the weekend and cut out the excess. I find in my 40s that wine just makes me bloated and interrupts my sleep, so i save it for when i want to have a glass on the w/e or a special occasion. have a daily piece of good, dark chocolate and that will satisfy your craving.

Absolutely wine. And only dark chocolate. No milk chocolate or white chocolate or snickers or any of that junk.

+1
Tell us the amount.

Wine.

But, no need to cut anything out entirely. Limit it to two glasses on the weekends (just an example). I only drink about two glasses a month, tops.

See, I would cut out the chocolate and slightly reduce wine. But I wouldn’t cut it out completely just have a piece or two a week.

Has anyone tried to low or no alcohol wines? I wonder if those would help transition away from wine? NP here.

And 80%-90% chocolate tastes so bitter and not satisfying to me. I would rather have none. I am okay with 60% to 70%.

Definitely wine!
