Happy Sunday PK parents - may the odds be ever in your favor

I support weekly testing or whatever it takes to make teachers/parents feel more comfortable. But man, waiting until 4 pm on Sundays to learn whether we have preschool for the week is going to get real old real fast.

Are we supposed to test? I have a kid in K; we were told to test last weekend but not this weekend. If the portal's open, I'll test my K student. I never saw any results from the MLK weekend testing.

If you test your kids now and they are negative then why would you need to wait until 4?

It is only encouraged for K, required for PK.

They shut the whole class down if any child tests positive. At least that’s what our principal told us.

I think the idea is that if one of the children is positive they all have to quarantine, so they close the class.. Technically those who have turned five and are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine, but DCPS may not be taking that into account.

I mean, nearly 1/3rd of PK4ers are old enough to be vaxxed at this point…

Yeah our schools message was cryptic this week, but we are K and vaxed so don’t think the class will
Be shut down. It was funny though because my
K rally resisted the testing last week but this week told
Me one kid in the class who didn’t like the testing and how him and some other kids did- so I guess politics is already making it’s way in to kindergarten Lives!

That is annoying. I wish instead they had Monday morning tests to avoid total closure

Really? Our PK3 class had a positive last week and didn’t get shut down.

I won’t be able to test kids until after 4pm. Is that still accepted?

Our school said yes.

The exposure goes back two days. Last week tests were on Monday.

Please reread what you wrote. If the whole purpose of this pointless testing exercise is to make people “feel comfortable” then we’ve already lost.
