What is your shopping / weekly stockpile? Not recipes, I just need to know what you stock up on each week.
What do you do if it starts to go bad? I am just terrible about buying the right stuff in a pattern. |
| I either buy frozen or immediately cut up and freeze all ingredients other than apples, so it’s easy to make anytime and nothing goes bad. Buy frozen beeeies and greens, peel and cut avocado and banana into chunks an freeze. |
| I buy a lot of spinach and frozen fruit, except bananas which I peel and freeze. |
Me too- learned the hard way you must peel! I make a 2-3 days worth, pour into a mason jar and store in fridge. More than about 3 days worth adds the risk of it going bad. |
| My husband just shoves his bags of fresh spinach in the freezer. It’s fine. |
|
We don’t have them every day, but I keep the below stocked. I am very careful to avoid food waste, and the spinach is the only thing we sometimes have a hard time getting through before it starts getting gross.
Bag of washed baby spinach Yogurt One banana per smoothie planned (find that the banana is critical for the right mouthfeel) Frozen fruit - mixed berries for DH and mango/pineapple for mine - TJ tends to have best unit price for non bulk sizes Bag of chia seeds in pantry (lasts a while because I just sprinkle a tsp or so on top) |
|
I buy bags of frozen berries, mangoes, or cherries.
I buy bags of fresh, pre-washed spinach or kale. I typically use it all b4 it goes bad, but if it starts to loose freshness, I throw it in the freezer. I use fresh bananas, but on occasion, they ripen too much and I peel them and freeze them. If the fresh fruits I buy for snacking start to go bad, I throw them in the smoothie b4 using the frozen fruit. |

I make a fresh one daily. They don't last well.
Kale (can freeze the kale when it starts to go), fresh ginger, fresh lemon, chia seeds, flax seeds, protein powder, honey, ice, water. You can throw in celery if you want too. |
| This is great... those who add protein powder, what's your favorite? |
| I use vital proteins collagen and a tbsp ground flax |
| Can you make these with a food processor or does it have to be a blender? |
NP here - what's the benefit of adding these? |
| Bagged spinach sometimes has condensation within the bag. I place a dry paper towel in the bottom of the bag and change as it absorbs water. I typically fold the bag over and use a binder clip to secure and keep the air out.. Hope this helps with the freshness of your spinach. |
Adding protein, fat, and fiber to your smoothie will make it a more well rounded “meal” and you’ll feel fuller for a longer period of time. Primarily fruit smoothies will spike your blood sugar and lead to a crash which isn’t good. |
this! plus ginger, tumeric and a tbsp of chia |
