| Is it motivating? |
| I am fat and don't need an Apple watch. I just get up and go for a walk twice a day. |
| An Apple Watch isn’t going to motivate you to exercise. You need to motivate yourself and the watch can track your movements. |
|
I find the watch very distracting
A watch won’t get you to exercise |
| I find the Apple watch to be very motivating. It prompts you to get up and move once an hour, and gives you a mini celebration if you achieve 45 minutes of exercise per day. Between that and the Peloton tread, I’m back into working out every day for the first time in a decade. Down 5 lbs of the 15 I want to lose. If you can easily afford it, I recommend it. |
| I LOVE my apple watch. It totally motivates me. My goal is 720 exercise calories a day. If I don't make that, I literally walk up and down my steps at home until I reach it! |
| My Apple Watch motivates me too. I was very sedentary at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. I got an Apple Watch and closing my rings became a goal. I also got the Peloton app and that provided structure to my workouts. I have always responded well to gamification no matter what the activity is. |
| I love my Apple Watch. It motivates me to work out harder, go further, get my heart rate up. That said I already have a strong internal motivation, if I didn't have it the watch would just be another piece of "jewelry". |
| Just get Apple's free health app on your phone. It counts your steps. |
Not the same at all, at least for me. You get fireworks on your wrist when you do a good job. It’s honestly made a huge difference in my life. |
| I think the PPs are wrong about it not being motivating. I don’t have an Apple Watch, I don’t like that you need to charge it daily, but I’m in a Fitbit challenge group and man those women make me move! If I don’t want last, I have to push myself to get in extra steps. It’s very motivating OP. |
Yes and it reminds me every hour if I have sat for too long. P |
| Yes I find it motivating. I was already pretty active but its made me want to push myself harder. |
|
I started out with the fitbit because I wasn’t sure I would be able to wear a watch all day. I eventually grew out of that and now have one of relatively large garmin triathlon watches and I even wear it when I am sleeping to get that data.
If I was looking for something just for motivation I’d probably get the Fitbit. The Apple Watch will give you lots more smart features. I had the Fitbit charge 3 and then the charge 4. |
| Also, look for used stuff on eBay. I sold my stuff on eBay as lightly used and people got a bargain and I got some money back. |
