| I am on day 8 since testing positive for covid and suddenly my sense of taste is totally off and gross. Salt and vinegar chips that taste normal to my DH taste like disgusting chemicals to me. Even carrots have a gross chemical taste. It’s bizarre and off putting. I know this was more common with Delta (I almost certainly have omicron). Anyone else experiencing with omicron? How long did it last with prior variants? |
|
Yep.
Mustard tasted bad for months. |
| It can last for months and months |
| Yes, I had this but it went away after days, maybe a week or two at most. |
| I had this something similar about day 6 with my recent case of covid. It gradually subsided, and like most things that gradually subside, I can't really tell you when everything was back to normal, except that it did go back to normal within 3 weeks of my positive test. Food tastes like it is supposed to again! Hope yours follows a similar pattern. |
| Earl grey tea tastes so weird to me, I’m on day 10. |
| Yes. |
No, that's Earl Grey tea. |
|
Yes Day 14. Nothing tastes bad, just dull.
Lol on Earl Grey Tea. |
My relative that had it over Thanksgiving had the same experience with carrots and has not yet been able to eat them again. They were one of her favorite foods so we are hoping it clears up.

| welcome to the club |
| I’ve heard on TikTok that even if everything tastes weird Dr Pepper still tastes regular. So people who didn’t love it before love it now because it tastes normal/expected to them |
Dr Pepper is the one thing I would hope to taste different. |
| Look up Parosmia. Unfortunately one of the long haul Covid effects. Hoping it is temporary for you. |
| Yes, a friend of mine still has this a year later from OG Covid. |
