Do the Big3 schools given token aid ($1000 off) to anyone who applies?

A friend of mine claims to have heard this. They are applying for aid for high school with HHI $500K, real estates assets $2 million. New to the schools.

Who knows. We make that much, but after taxes, mortgage on pretty basic house we only bought this year (saving up till then) and 3 tuitions, there isn’t much left.

OP.
The family has one kid.
I'm feeling pretty stupid because I have two kids and a HHI of $450K. If you get $1000 off $500K I should have applied.

So $54k year vs $55k year? Wow. Whoopie.

If I found out a family like that received aid I wouldn’t give to the annual fund anymore.

I would think it would actually hurt you in the admissions process because they’d think “wow, what an entitled ass”

Bwahahahaha

Troll. I highly doubt that a family that makes $500k will waist their time and effort filling out the financial aid application and gathering supporting documentation to save $1k.

This is not true.

No. But I can see how it would allow them to claim that a high percentage of families are receiving aid.

OP here. Not a troll. They don't want to pay $50K so they figure they'll see if the school will discount it. I bet a lot of people do this.

Also, do schools that into account savings? if you have cash in the bank ($500k?) can you still get aid?

Poor baby.

Not true at all. They would have to fill out FA forms + would be denied. We had $225 HHI + were denied for 1 kid.
