The SROs assigned to ACHS are still out on leave due to allegations of sexually inappropriate conversations with students. Seems the accusations are serious and credible. I suspect it went further than just talking dirty, given the unequal power dynamics between police and students.
Anyone heard anything more about it? https://www.alxnow.com/2022/01/21/school-resource-officers-havent-returned-to-alexandria-city-high-school-since-before-winter-break/?fbclid=IwAR1JpsvfCreNiq9K173h9urZVHGZ1ZW-igS3aGmSlQjcIgV9X0U4nHn8WjI |
Have they not replace the SROs with other police officers? If one teacher is accused of sexual harassment do we send home all teachers on leave and not replace them? It doesn’t make sense. |
The SRO program is not a primary function of the police force and is voluntary, whereas all teachers are teachers. That's why the cop who shot a gun at GW is no longer and SRO but is still active duty. |
Something is definitely up here.
Supposedly SROs receive specialized training (which I’m sure includes dos and don’t for interacting with students). |
Any more updates on this? It’s been awfully quiet, not sure what to make of that. Seems the investigation is ongoing, which suggests there may be something to the allegations (and possibly more victims). |
